Progress is being made on a project to erect a new traffic light on Ga. Highway 74 north at Wisdom Road in Peachtree City.

The project has been stalled for several months as the city needed an easement from CSX railroad to proceed with construction of the traffic light system.

Construction on the project can begin once the city receives the easement paperwork back from CSX, acting Developmental Services Director David Rast told the City Council last week.

CSX is also cooperating with the city on a plan to install landscaping along Hwy. 74 north to screen the rail siding area where trains are allowed to park so other trains can pass. Rast said as part of that project the railroad is still trying to work with Comcast to close the existing at-grade railroad crossing for the former cable building further north on the rail.

The city is also making progress on the installation of path ramps from the new cart path tunnel under Hwy. 74 south at Paschall Road, Rast said. The design is complete and utility comments are back but an easement is needed from several property owners before the project can proceed, he added.
