Peachtree City has made the list of the 250 “most affluent” communities in the United States, according to a study conducted by bizjournals.com.

Peachtree City came in at 230 on the list, which calculated scores based on median household income, median home value, the percentage of homes with nine or more rooms, the number of households with four or more vehicles and the number of adults with bachelor’s degrees.

According to the study’s methodology, the goal was to find cities that have “the earmarks of affluence, notably high incomes and expensive houses.” The study was limited to cities with populations above 15,000 as of 2007.

Bizjournals also cited some of the data it uncovered about Peachtree City.

“Buyers looking for new homes in this southside Atlanta location will find an average home value of $266,800, with 26.2 percent of homes having more than nine rooms,” Bizjournals reported in a news release. “Home buyers will likely find spacious garages in Fayette County, too, with 6.2 percent of Peachtree City households owning four or more cars.”

The newly created Johns Creek city was the highest-ranked Georgia community, coming in at number 95 on the list. Sandy Springs came in at number 123, Dunwoody was ranked 130 and Alpharetta was listed in the 203rd spot.
