Southern Crescent Chorale jazzes things up with concert next Saturday

The Southern Crescent Chorale makes its sixth appearance at the Villages Amphitheater with a rollicking evening of Big Band music. The seventy voice choir will fill the evening air with the swinging sounds of Big Band music from the 1940s through music of today. A special feature of this concert will be the seventeen piece big band Night Train who will not only accompany the Chorale but will also play many great tunes featuring soloist Tony Winston.

Winston has been a major presence in the Atlanta jazz scene for over a decade. As a soloist, and with the Tony Winston Trio, he has been heard in most all of the jazz venues throughout the city, including Ray’s on the River, Eclipse di Luna, Otto’s, Sambuca Jazz Cafe, Coach and Six and countless others. He has recorded vocals for radio and television commercials for such clients as GE Capitol, Kroger, Atlanta Classic Cars, and Walt Disney World. Winston is known for the hip, fresh sound he brings to jazz and pop standards.

The Chorale will be singing many favorites including "Sing, Sing, Sing", Chattanooga Choo Choo", "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy", "Tuxedo Junction", "Jump Jive and Wail", and many more. Be sure to wear your dancing shoes because the dance floor will be opened all evening. You can bring your own picnic and drinks or plan to buy food and beverages at the concert. Make May 16 a night to remember. Join us for the Big Band Party!

Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for students and seniors ages 60 and up. The show begins at 8 p.m.
