Senoia's 4th annual Memorial Day Celebration and Festival begins at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 25th in historic downtown Senoia. Make plans to bring your family for a fun day of patriotic celebration. Space is currently available for antique, handmade arts and crafts vendors (no resale items, please) as well as parade participants. Entry forms for vendors and parade participants are available at www.senoia.com. The keynote speaker for this year's festival is State Representative John Yates. Representative Yates is the only WWII veteran still serving in the state legislature and has a fascinating history serving our country. The 116th Army Band, Civil and Revolutionary War Re-enactors, Veterans, Civic Groups, Businesses, Scouts, and Shriners are some of the other parade participants. World War II veterans are the collective Grand Marshals. The parade begins at 2 p.m. A pre- and post parade show will be emceed by Charlie Filkins and Scott Sargeant of High Octane Radio 92.5, The Bear, also known as The Car Guys of NBC Channel 38 in Columbus. The Chris Youmans Band will perform starting at 10am and The Premium Tapp Band will perform beginning at 1 p. m. Entertainment, a food court, children’s activities and vendors will be available throughout the day. The downtown events will be followed by a fireworks display at dark at Marimac Lakes Park on Pylant Street. Pylant Street will be closed from Hwy 16 to Morgan Street. Please park at the ball fields located on Howard Road and take the paved walking/ golf cart path to the park. Hot dogs, ice cream, Hawaiian shaved ice, etc. will be available. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy a beautiful fireworks display over the lake. The Memorial Day Celebration and Festival is sponsored by the Senoia Downtown Development Authority.
