William Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream", will come to life this July at Newnan Community Theatre Company.  However, the auditions must come first.  Auditions will take place May 11 and 12 at the theater.

Shakespeare is considered to be the world's best playwright and Midsummer is one of his most popular plays.  The play portrays the adventures of four young lovers and a group of amateur actors.  The lovers and actors interact with the Duke and Duchess of Athens and with fairies who inhabit a moonlit forest.

If you are aged 8 to 16, you can try out for the role of a fairy.  Some of the fairy roles are speaking, some are non-speaking, and both males and females are needed.  Fairies will audition at 6 p.m.  Actors can attend either evening.  Prepare a short poem or Shakespearian monologue.

There are 17 roles for ages 16 through adult.  Auditions for these roles are at 7 p.m. .  Prepare a short comedic Shakespearean monologue (a minute or less).

More details about the show's characters can be found at the theatre's website, newnantheatre.com.  ‘A Midsummer Night's Dream’ is being directed by Jennifer Dorrell and is part of the theatre's 2009 season.   The show dates are July 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, and 26.

NCTC is located at 24 1st Avenue in downtown Newnan.
