Unity concludes successful women’s conferenceTue, 05/05/2009 - 1:34pm

Unity Christian Church, of Fayetteville, led by First Lady Merrian Atwater, hosted its third Annual Community Women’s Conference, Saturday May 2. The Conference theme was “Women on the Battlefield.” Women of various walks and denominations, from Fayetteville, Peachtree City, Tyrone, and the surrounding communities were treated to a day of workshops addressing many of the issues and problems facing today’s families. Topics ranged from the battles that rage in marriage and the temptations of living single, to how to live victoriously whatever the difficulty. Tracey A. Telemaque Esq., of Belleville, N.J., led the singles ministry workshop, “God’s Best for the Assignment.” “This is my first time in Georgia, and I was met with great warmth and hospitality by the women of Unity,” she stated. Other workshops were presented to equip women to meet life changes based upon biblical principles. Presenters included Evangelist Lillie Smith, Evangelist Deborah Jackson, Sister Joyce Roberts, Evangelist Debra Ramos , Evangelist Verlinda Stanford, and Psalmist Lee Garner. The keynote address was given by Dr. Jacqueline Ponder, pastor, In Jesus Name Retreat and Ministry of Senoia. Roz Tandy, author of Customer Service in God’s House, also made a guest appearance. Praise dances were performed by twin sisters and Sandy Creek High students, Jacqueline and Cynthia Harris of Tyrone, and a skit written by Tonie Griffith was performed. Business sponsors for the event included Kroger stores in Fayetteville and Peachtree City, Zion Marketing in Fayetteville, Target in Peachtree City, Dragon House Restaurant in Fairburn, Publix in Tyrone, Staples in Fayetteville, Chick-Fil-A Dwarf House in Fayetteville, and Allstate Insurance. “We are an ever growing church, with a heart for people as well as outreach, Atwater said. “I am proud of the work of our Unity sisters in Christ to continue to serve this community.” login to post comments |
