Petty Officer 2nd Class Quintin Bohan, Newnan, Ga. was awarded the Theodore Roosevelt Youth Medal by the Navy League of the United States.  The Theodore Roosevelt Youth Medal was established to honor those who best exemplify Roosevelt’s values of energy, spirit, competition and fair play.  Petty Officer Bohan was also awarded the Sons of the American Revolution Bronze Good Citizenship Medal & Ribbon.   His nomination for this award was a result of his leadership, dependability, good character and military discipline.  Bohan has served as the Leading Petty Officer and understands the importance and fundamentals of a patriotic organization such as the Naval Sea Cadet Corps.  His effort, academic ability, pride, professionalism, and can-do spirit are models for all to follow, and is in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Navy, Sons of the American Revolution and the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps.

Quintin is a member of the Columbus Ironclad Division of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps which drills monthly at the Navy Operational Support Center in Columbus, GA.  The Columbus Ironclad Division is the home unit to cadets from Atlanta, Newnan, Sharpsburg, Senoia and Macon, GA and Birmingham, AL.  Quintin is a sophomore and is home schooled.

The Sea Cadet Corps is a nationwide organization dedicated to helping American youth realize personal success and achievement through a nautically oriented training program.  Through Sea Cadet and Navy League leadership, young Americans ages 10 to 17 develop interest and skills in basic seamanship and its naval adaptations, while learning the value of patriotism, courage, self-reliance, teamwork and accountability.

Authorized by the Secretary of the Navy to wear Navy uniforms customized with Sea Cadet/Navy League insignia, cadets train aboard U. S. Navy and Coast Guard ships and shore activities.  Over 10,000 cadets nationally participate.  The Ironclad Division is sponsored by the Atlanta Metropolitan Council of the Navy League United States.

The leader of the local division is WO Philip Winslett.  Interested young men and women or their parents can contact WO Winslett at (334) 790-3377 or visit the Ironclad website http://www.ironcladdivision.com for more information.  The division is now actively recruiting new members.
