The Optimist Club of Senoia will sponsor a blood drive for the Senoia area on Monday, May 4. The community drive will be held in the Fellowship Hall of the Senoia United Methodist Church from 1-6 p.m.

A free gift of special coupons from Maguire’s Family and Friends Restaurant, the Senoia Coffee Company, and the Redneck Gourmet will be available for everyone who donates at the May 4 blood drive. Also, Senoia Optimists plan to serve grilled cheese sandwiches along with the traditional cookies and juice.

This blood drive is the third one in a series of quarterly events that the Senoia Optimist Club sponsors, with the last one being held on February 2. The first two exceeded their targeted goals. American Red Cross officials have again set a goal of 33 pints of life-saving blood for the May 4 Senoia initiative. It is hoped that donors in the surrounding area will help this drive to also be successful.

A single pint of blood can be safely donated every 56 days, and this important opportunity will allow the citizens in and around the Senoia area to once again rise to the need.

For the first time at the Senoia Area blood drive, donors who meet specific criteria will be eligible to become a “double red cell donor.” More information will be available on the day of the blood drive (May 4) or you may contact the American Red Cross in advance of the drive.

Most healthy people age 17 and older or 16 with parental consent, who weigh at least 110 pounds, are eligible to donate blood. For more information, please call 1-800-GIVE LIFE (448-3543) or visit www.redcrossblood.org.
