A Union City woman died after her car collided with a dump truck at the intersection of Ga. Highways 279 and 314 Wednesday, according to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

Connie H. Dickinson, 86, of Union City, was attempting to turn onto Hwy. 314 when she drove into the path of a dump truck which was proceeding south on Hwy. 314 on a green light, deputies said. The dump truck struck Dickinson’s vehicle in the driver’s side door, according to deputies.

Dickinson suffered serious injuries in the collision and was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital via air ambulance where she died from her injuries.

The collision is still under investigation by the department.
