The McIntosh High School men’s and women’s swim teams finished in the top tier at the Metro Atlanta Swim and Dive Meet at Westminster High School Saturday. For the women, who finished 13th out of 52 schools, junior Nicole Roddenberry took second in the 200 individual medley and fifth in the 100 breaststroke. They also just missed the finals with an 11th place finish in the 400 freestyle relay with Roddenberry, junior Rose Tortora, sophomore Keaton Hannon and freshman Ariane Leblond.
The men ranked 16th, with individual performances by senior Thomas Lucak in the 50 freestyle (8th) and 100 butterfly (5th) and by senior Bryan Mitchell in the 100 breaststroke (7th). The men qualified for the finals in the 200 individual medley relay preliminaries but were disqualified in the final heat because of a false start. The McIntosh swim season is over except for several Chiefs who have qualified for the state meet Feb. 11 at Westminster. McIntosh men swimming at the state meet will be: Lucak, Mitchell, freshmen Josh Day and Alex Harmon, and seniors Savinien Leblond and Matt Lee. Girls qualifying for state are: Roddenberry, sophomore Keaton Hannon, juniors Tortora and Hannah Williams, seniors Bailey Abercrombie and Caroline Clark, and freshmen Sarah Trapaga and Leblond. login to post comments |
