School board to evaluate five year planTue, 04/07/2009 - 3:48pm

The Fayette County School Board will meet April 13 to evaluate and conduct the annual update of the school system’s Five Year Strategic Plan 2007-2012. The 164-page plan will be reviewed by board members with needed updates accompanying presentations by school system department heads. Priorities are assessed on an annual basis and updated if needed. Categories and sub-categories of the plan cross the spectrum of school system function and include areas such as communication, curriculum and instruction, growth and organization, financial management, human resources, support services and exceptional children’s services. Goals within the plan are based on a number of strategic directions previously identified and approved by the school board. The board previously approved eight strategic directions. Those include: 1) Enhance communication between Fayette County School System and its stakeholders. 2) Develop instructional programs that will prepare students in the Fayette County School System to be internationally competitive and able to function successfully in the 21st century. 3) Continue to provide quality facilities that enhance learning. 4) Obtain the necessary funding to provide quality educational opportunities. 5) Select and maintain a quality work force and provide for their employment needs. 6) Provide necessary support services that will enable all students of Fayette County School System to maximize their educational opportunities. 7) Provide a centralized registration service to all residents who are full-time occupants of a dwelling located within Fayette County. 8) Apply information technology in each school and central office department, to improve the effectiveness and quality of instruction as well as increase the efficiency of administrative operations. login to post comments |
