For the second week in a row, McIntosh High School is in mourning after losing another student to suicide.

Ashleigh Webster, 17, was found dead in her home Friday evening, said her father, Bill Webster. A senior at McIntosh, she got good grades and her modeling career was just beginning, Mr. Webster said.

Though Ashleigh had anger issues, there were never any warning signs that she might ever intend to kill herself, Webster said. None of her friends could have anticipated such a tragedy, he added.

“None of us could have ever seen this coming,” Webster said. “She had everything to live for. Her modeling career was just starting to take off.”

Webster went to the school Monday morning to talk with some of Ashleigh’s favorite teachers, and it was difficult emotionally because of the reactions from her friends.

“The kids in the hall all had tears in their eyes,” Webster said.

A professional model, Ashleigh worked the runway for a Rich’s-Macy’s fashion show in 2003, and she also participated in a promotion for Wal-Mart and NASCAR. She was also an aspiring actress.

She also was on the school track team and on the newspaper staff.

Ashleigh’s funeral is today at 2 p.m. at Dogwood Church in Tyrone. Webster said she was “as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside.”

“I’ve said I just wish I could do it all over again,” he said.

A week earlier, a 15-year-old boy died in an apparent suicide at his home Jan. 28. Both victims were McIntosh students, and both died after hanging themselves in their homes.
