The often incremental and painstaking work that comes from revising ordinances is not known to draw crowds. Such was the case Thursday night as Tyrone Planning Commission and town staff were the only ones to dot the landscape in the council chambers as work began on the Revised Land Development Ordinance.  And though the topic is bland by most standards, the work, when completed in coming months, will carry significance for years.

Commissioners began the task by reviewing and making suggested changes to 3 of the 13 articles, including the General, Definitions and Administration articles of the revised ordinance. The board made only minor changes to the host of recommended inclusions proposed by town manager Chris Venice and evaluated by town attorney Dennis Davenport.  Venice said the new material being suggested for inclusion had been gleaned from proven land development ordinances from other communities.

Venice suggested commissioners begin with the review of the first three articles because they were basic to the entire document. Aside from the many additions to the General and Definitions articles, Venice offered was what essentially a complete re-work of the Administration article. That section included the Platting Authority, Plat Recording, Zoning Regulations, Subdivisions Not Involving Changes in Public Facilities, Approval by Individual Agencies and the Plat Review Fee.The often incremental and painstaking work that comes from revising ordinances is not known to draw crowds.
