Fayette County Commissioner Linda Wells has announced that she will seek re-election in 2006 to her Post 4 at-large seat.

Wells told a crowd of about 50 at Saturday’s monthly Fayette County Republican Party breakfast that she would be running again. She is only the third woman to serve as a commissioner in Fayette and the only one to win a second term. She has just entered her 12th year in office.

She said that she was making the announcement early in the political season in response to inquires from some who had expressed interest in the seat should she choose not to run.

The owner of a financial services practice in Fayetteville, Wells cited her reputation as a proven leader, a fiscal conservative and an impartial representative of all Fayette County citizens as reasons to support her re-election.

“You may not always agree with me,” she said, “but you know you can rely on me to be consistent. I do not promise one thing and then do something else.”

Anyone wishing to help in the campaign can contact her Campaign Manager, Tony Vranesevich, at 404-444-2588 or Pat Brannon at 404-271-0445.
