Whitewater Middle School's student council raised $2,794.79 for Pennies for Patients, a campaign supporting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The drive, which ran from January 26 to February 13 of this year, included a number of exciting competitions among homerooms and grade levels. Ms. Christy Taravella's homeroom won a pizza party by raising the most contributions this year. Mrs. Dana Zillweger's homeroom placed second, and Mrs. Brenda Henson's homeroom placed third. The second-place overall winning homeroom collected the most during the first contest, which provided as its prize the opportunity for one student to act as Principal for a Day. The lucky winning student Anjali Tripathi, pictured above, enjoyed shadowing Assistant Principal Steve Greene on Friday, February 6. Anjali is shown with some of her official duties—being the keeper of the keys to the school and communicating with the walkie-talkie. When asked what she thought of her day as an administrator, she said, “It's been fun.”
