Organizers are being tight-lipped about the goodies up for grabs at the third annual Angels Among Us Valentine Dinner Dance and Silent Auction that will benefit the Fayette Youth Protection Homes.

Last year, Allen and Julie Harp submitted the winning bid and walked away with ... a cow. Other items in the auction last year included a fur coat, a diamond sweetheart necklace and vacation trips. More than $40,000 was raised last year.

This year, the event will be Saturday, Feb. 11, at Glendalough Manor in Tyrone, starting with a cocktail reception followed by a gourmet dinner and live music from the band “Southern Legend.”

The event is $75 per person and dress is black tie optional. To attend, call Becky Davenport by Feb. 5 at 770-461-7020.

“It’s a chance to enjoy an evening of fun while helping youth in the community,” said Don Phillips, president of the Fayette Youth Protection Homes Board of Directors. “We are so thankful for the support of many businesses and individuals in the community. The dinner dance offers a time to celebrate our efforts to help children in need.”

FYPH serves abused and neglected children from Fayette and surrounding counties with a loving group home setting. The organization plans to roll out a privatized program in the spring to help encourage more local foster families.
