The Greater Fayette Republican Women met Jan. 19 to install new officers for the 2006-2007 term.

The group meets monthly. They are dedicated to the principles of the Republican Party and have many functions throughout the year.

One of their recent projects was collecting money and toys for the military families stationed at Fort Benning. Many of these troups have been deployed to Iraq and other nearby countries. Their contributions made the Christmas season a little brighter for the children of the troups who were away at Christmas.

The group also has an ongoing project of helping the Pregnancy Resource Center here in Fayette County. They have donated many dictionaries to the local schools and students this last year. They also sponsored Teenage Republican Clubs at the local high schools and helped sponsor a student to attend "Close Up" in Washington, D.C. this week.

This group is the educational arm of the Republican Party. They have candidate trainng seminars each election year. Anyone interested in visiting or joining are cordially invited. The group accepts men as associate members.
