Ruth Adams Harkness, 89, Fayetteville, died Feb. 2, 2006. She was born Feb. 25, 1916 in Thomaston, Upson County. She was the daughter of Milton and Ida Pierson Adams. She was a charter member of Christ’s Church at Whitewater, Fayetteville. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Dr. Paul Carrier, the Rev. Sam Storey, and the Rev. John B. Adams officiating. Survivors include daughters, Eugenia “Genie” Welch, Fayetteville, and Eileen and Billy Barber, Eatonton; grandchildren, Lori and John Loper, Lenoir City, Tenn., Susan and Eric Mullis, Hampton, Brian and Hollie Hilliard, Gray, Drs. Joseph and Bridget Hilliard, Milledgeville; great-grandchildren, Melody and Matthew Mullis, Jacob Loper, and Ruby and Will Hilliard; and a sister, Elizabeth Storey, Moultrie. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.
