State Rep. Virgil Fludd announces the fourth annual Fludd Scholarship program. This award is given each year to selected students who have performed well both in the classroom and the community. Since 2006, eight students have won this prestigious award and have been able to continue their educational goals. The winners in 2008 were Tiara Burton, Julea Eppinger, Crissinda Ponder and Victor Shivers, Jr. Each of these outstanding students received a cash contribution toward their college education.
“This program was created to recognize the hard work and achievement of deserving students in south metro,” says Rep. Fludd. “I appreciate the importance of a good education and realize that many students face financial challenges while going to college. The scholarship is one way of giving back to the community and at the same time recognize students for their hard work. We are honored to be able to continue this program for another year and increase the number of winners in 20008. We hope to keep it going indefinitely.” The award amount for 2009 will be $500 per winner.
