Offshoot Productions’ artistic director Susan M. Steadman, Ph.D., is slated to teach “Taking Stage:  An Acting Class for Teens” for the Tyrone Recreation Department, on Wednesdays from April 15 to May 13.  Steadman, who has been teaching and directing for over three decades, will guide middle and high school age students on an exciting exploration of acting techniques.  Each information-packed meeting focuses on a different area:  improvisation, character development, scene study, and auditioning.

“In a way, you can think of ‘Taking Stage’ is a kind of theatre sampler, said Steadman.  “While it provides a great intro for less experienced students, it also fills in some of the gaps for students who have performed in the past.”

The class meets from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.on Wednesdays at the Roger Spencer Community Center, 145 Commerce Drive, in Tyrone.  (Note:  there is no meeting on May 6.)  The cost is $50.

For registration information, call Tyrone Recreation at (770) 487-4694 or send e-mail to tyronerec@tyrone.org.  For additional information on class content, contact Offshoot Productions at (770) 631-2362 or offshootpr@aol.com
