PTC company offers engineering scholarship

Hoffmann + Krippner in Peachtree City, a branch of a German company, is offering a $2,500 engineering scholarship to recognize projects in the field of human-machine interface (HMI) applications and input devices.

Hoffmann + Krippner is a pioneer in membrane keyboard technology and a market leader for complex input solutions, opening its US office in 2008.

Hoffmann + Krippner represents engineering, innovation and technical know-how for flexible input devices in a manner that is practiced by the best German manufacturers.

 “We are always committed to supporting engineering students and this is a great way to publically showcase some of the finest new ideas in HMI engineering,” said Ralf Krippner, CEO of the Hoffmann + Krippner Group Germany.

 Valuing the complicated and creative work that engineering students work on and produce, Hoffmann + Krippner’s corporate philosophy allows the company to examine new and sometimes unconventional ideas – many of which come from student research and practical projects.

 The scholarship’s 2009 unveiling serves as a visible and ongoing initiative supporting academic excellence and will become an annual award and expand to Europe next year.

 The winner will receive a $ 2,500 scholarship and the opportunity to present their winning project at Hoffmann + Krippner’s exhibit booth at the SenorExpo 2009 in Chicago, Illinois June 8 – 10, 2009.

“We recognize the creativity and hard work of engineering students and want to reward them,” said Guido Woska, president of Hoffmann + Krippner, Inc (US).

 Woska along with John Doyle, assistant professor of computer science at Indiana University (Southeast) and John Zegers, director of Georgia Center of Innovation for Manufacturing, professionals in the area of HMI devices will judge the 2009 participants projects.

 The award is available to students in their junior or senior year. The closing date for applications is April 15, 2009.

The company has a work force of over 200 and develops and produces innovative input solutions for customers in the most diverse sectors, ranging from the electronics industry, medical technology, engineering and aviation to military technology.
