Rep. Fludd sees, knows all of FayetteTue, 02/07/2006 - 5:31pm

Rep. Virgil Fludd’s powers of clairvoyance are absolutely amazing. He actually claims to know that “The concerns of people who live in Brooks and Woolsey are different than than the people that live in places like north Fayette or Tyrone.” Isn’t that special? Rep. Fludd knows the concerns of each and every individual that resides in Fayette County. That is absolutely amazing. You would think that the results of the last referendum, where district voting was overwhelmingly rejected by voters, would have sent a strong enough signal to Rep. Fludd that the majority of residents of Fayette County want to keep the at-large voting system in place. It was all about race last time. However, in his latest attempt to forcefully ramrod district voting down the throat of unwilling Fayette citizens, it’s all about different “concerns” (whatever that is supposed to mean). Since the idea of district voting was defeated in the referendum, he is now going to attempt to force the desires of the few against the wishes of the many through the legislature. You see, that’s what Democrats like Fludd do: If they are unable to convince the masses that their idea is the best one, they go to the legislature and force it upon them. Fayette citizens, if you are in favor of keeping the at-large voting process for County Commission in place, then I urge each and every one of you to contact your representative and let them know how you feel. If we let Fludd, who doesn’t even reside in Fayette County, to force district voting upon us then we might as well change the name of the Fayetteville to “South Riverdale” because that is exactly what it will become.
