One of Peachtree City’s corporate heavyweights is changing its name from Global Aero Logistics Inc to Global Aviation Holdings Inc.

The change also includes a new logo replete with a reference to the company’s service of “Customized Air Transport.”

Global Aviation is the parent company of World Airways, also headquartered in Peachtree City and North American Airlines, based in Jamaica, N.Y.

Through World and North American, the company has more than 30 aircraft to serve both passenger and freight needs. In addition to carrying troops to the Middle East for the current war on terror, the company also has provided charter flights for professional and college sports teams.

The name and logo change were undertaken to “clearly represent the company’s world-wide presence and diverse aviation transport services,” company officials said.

“We are focused on growing our commercial cargo and passenger business and the new name and identity will better represent the leading role we play in the charter aviation industry,” said chief executive officer Rob Binns. “This is also an appropriate time to launch our marketing and branding efforts in a much more structured way that will be meaningful to our customers.”

The Global Aviation fleet has been built to accommodate future demand, Binns said.

World Airways was founded in 1948 and operates cargo and passenger charter flights using DC 10-30, MD11 and B747-400 aircraft. North American Airlines operates passenger charter flights using B757-200ER and B767-300ER aircraft.
