Russell "Russ" Heelan Jr., 72, Senoia, died Feb. 19, 2009. He was preceded in death by his wife, Flo Heelan. He was a 1956 graduate of Rose Hulman Institute with an engineering degree. He was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. He had worked with GM Delco Electronics, and also with NASA with the guidance systems for the Apollo space program He was retired from Delta Airlines as an electrical engineer servicing guidance and auto pilot systems.

Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Glenn Stringham officiating. Interment was at the Senoia City Cemetery. Survivors include a son, Russ E. Heelan III, Monticello; a daughter, Alicia H. Potts, Senoia; grandchildren, Russell E. Heelan IV, and Gail Lynn Heelan, both of Thomaston; and a niece and nephew in Indiana. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.
