Richard A. "Pop" Brown, 61, Tyrone, formerly of Chantilly, Va., died Feb. 15,2009. He was born Feb. 6, 1948 in Beaver Falls, Pa. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry C. "Brownie" Brown. He was a 1965 graduate of Beaver Fall High School and a 1974 graduate of Geneva College. He was veteran of the United States Army and served with the 9th Infantry Division during the Vietnam conflict. He was awarded two purple heart medals for injuries he received in 1969. In 2003 he retired from the Department of Defense, Inspector General's Office, after working for over 30 years as a project manager-auditor. Interment will be March 16, 2009 at 8:45 a.m. at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va., with military honors. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Lois Breit Brown, Tyrone; sons, Dr. Jeffrey A. and Shanette Brown, Northport, Ala., and Christopher D. and Caroline Brown, Tyrone; grandchildren, Jonathan, Allison, and Samuel; mother, Dorothy V. Laria Brown, Beaver Falls, Pa.; sisters, Mary Ann and Timm Newton, Beaver Falls, Pa., Judith and Timothy Sugrue, Potsdam, N.Y., and Frances and Joseph Leahy, Northampton, Mass.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David and Sheryl Breit, Beaver Falls, Pa.; and his dog, Jazz. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, the ASPCA, or to PAWS. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge. login to post comments |
