Oswald Woodson Shelnutt

Oswald Woodson "O. W." "Bud" Shelnutt, 92, Fayetteville, died Feb. 15, 2009. He had served in the United States Army Air Corps in World War II as a radio operator-gunner on a B17. On his 53rd mission, his plane was shot down over Germany. He worked as a route supervisor with Atlanta Dairies for 39 years. He was active in all Masonic orders and was Past Master of Forest Park #399 and the Daylight Lodge #125 F&AM. He was a member of Fayetteville First United Methodist Church. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Fred Shelnutt , the Rev. Dr. David Campbell and Joe Suttles officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Martha Shelnutt, Fayetteville; sons, Woody and Connie Shelnutt, St. Simons, and Wendell and Lois Shelnutt, Fayetteville; a daughter Eleanor Albea, Fayetteville; grandchildren, Sonya and Heath Millians, Leigh Ann and Josh Allen, Michael Shelnutt, Bryan Shelnutt, Stuart and Christy Albea, Scott Albea, and Shawn Albea; great-grandchildren, Bella, Jackson, and Austen Millions, and Allie Albea; and a sister, Erma Piper, Roswell. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.
