Douglas J. Whitaker, 65, Newnan, died Feb. 14, 2009. He was born April 12, 1943 to Carl V. and Everill Thompson Whitaker. Memorial services were at the Pavilion at Serenbe, Palmetto. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Mary Margaret Whitaker, Newnan; a son, Chance David Whitaker; grandchildren, Austin Chance Whitaker, and Marina Callan Whitaker; and sisters, Connie and Rae Bieber, and Kay and Tom Twetten.
