The Southern Crescent Chorale’s 2008-2009 season continues on February 28th at 8:15 p.m. at Spivey Hall, where the Chorale will perform “An Evening of Schubert.” Under the leadership of its Director, Janice Folsom, The Southern Crescent Chorale has established itself as a vibrant part of the Southside arts scene. The seventy voiced Chorale is happy to be making their fifth appearance at Spivey Hall by featuring the music of Schubert. Spivey Hall, one of the world’s premier recital halls, will serve as an excellent venue for the Chorale.

The concert will begin with the Chorale’s performance of Schubert’s Mass in G accompanied by Marty Alexander on the world famous Spivey Hall organ. Soloists for the Mass are Gina Harvey, soprano, Kurt-Alexander Zeller, tenor, and John LaForge, bass. Well known Atlanta native pianist and Fayette County High School graduate (Class of 1986), Christi Muse Zuniga, who is now the principal keyboardist for the Omaha Symphony Orchestra, will also perform a 30 minute piano recital of Schubert classics. The program will include the following Schubert piano pieces:

Impromptu in Eb Major, Op. 90, No. 2

Impromptu in Gb Major, Op. 90, No. 3

Piano Piece in Eb Major, Op. post. D 946, No. 2

Impromptu in Ab Major, Op. 90, No. 4

“We are so excited to feature Christi Zuniga in our concert. She is an extremely versatile musician who plays with much sensitivity,” said Folsom. “She will also accompany our guest soloists Gina Harvey, John LaForge, and Kurt-Alexander Zeller as they sing Schubert art songs. This concert will be a special evening for all music lovers. "

As an accompanist, Zuniga has worked with performers in master classes taught by Jean-Pierre Rampal, Yo Yo Ma, Isaac Stern, Lynn Harrell, Elly Ameling, David Gordon, Peter Lloyd, Bonita Boyd, and Paula Robison.

The soloists will also delight the audience by performing a number of Schubert Art Songs: including Liebesbotschaft accompanied by Zuniga. The Chorale will complete the evening by singing other Schubert choral classics such as Tantum ergo in E flat, Ave Maria, Lebenslust, and Der Tanz.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $7.50 for students and available in advance or at the door, only through Spivey Hall. They may be purchased online at www.spiveyhall.org or by phone at (678) 466-4200. Spivey Hall is located on the campus of Clayton State University in Morrow, GA
