Ed Steil Named 2009 Outstanding EducatorWed, 02/18/2009 - 9:37am

Fayetteville, February 10, 2009—James Haymans, president Fayette County Retired Educators Association (FCREA) presented Ed Steil, Director of LaFayette Education Center with the 2009 Outstanding Educator award, during FCREA’s regular monthly meeting February 5, 2009. This award, presented on behalf of the Georgia Retired Educators Association (GREA) recognized Steil for exceptional service to the education profession. FCREA as the local unit of GREA is the only organization devoted solely to the needs of retired educators. Anyone whose career was in the field of education is eligible for membership. FCREA meets the first Thursday of the month from 10:30 A.M. to noon at the Fayetteville First United Church. Meetings take place during the months of September, October, November, January, February, March and April. For detailed information about FCREA visit the unit’s website, here. The next meeting of FCREA is March 5, 2009 and will be a cluster meeting with retired educators from Butts, Clayton, Coweta, Griffin-Spalding, and Henry County units. Helen Denton, secretary to General Dwight Eisenhower during WWII, and Dr. Bill Sloan, Executive Director of Georgia Retired Educators will present the program.
