Bob Adams Homes and the Universal Design Alliance are in the final stages of completing the 2006 Livable Lifetime Show House. The show house will be available for public tours from March 11 through April 1.

What is Universal Design? Universal Design principles make a home "livable" for people of all ages, sizes and abilities. In plain language, it means good common sense home design that enables you to live life as it comes to you. The purpose of the show house is to create awareness of these principles by displaying them in a fully decorated "home" environment. Some of the Universal Design principles featured in the show house include:

• An elevator that is accessible from every floor in the house.

• Stepless entry to make access easy for strollers or wheelchairs.

• Wide doorways and hallways to make maneuvering easier.

• Raised dishwasher for easier loading and unloading multilevel work surface in kitchen that is accessible to all ages.

• Lever door handles and Rocker light switches for hands free control.

Additionally the Show House will feature the talents of 17 of the Atlanta area's best Interior Designers. Each room will be fully decorated to show the latest in design trends and useful ideas for making your home livable throughout your lifetime.

The show house is located in the Emory Springs community which is behind the medical offices across from Piedmont Fayette Hospital on Ga. Highway 54 between Fayetteville and Peachtree City. Tickets can be obtained from the Universal Design Alliance at www.universaldesign.org or 770-667-4591. Bob Adams Homes Emory Springs Sales Staff can be reached at 770-716-7760.
