John Nicholson "Nick" Waters Jr., died Feb. 8, 2009. He was born Aug. 31, 1944 in Augusta. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Nicholson and Bessie Kathryn Avera Waters, and his wife, Beverly Williams Waters. He was a man who loved the land and had made his life's work in the timber business and raising cattle. He was a member of the Haralson United Methodist Church.

Services were at Haralson United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Evans and the Rev. Chris Mullett officiating. Interment was at the church cemetery. Survivors include his sons, Chris and Felecia Waters, and Shane and Jennifer Waters; grandchildren, Reese, Hayden, Mason, and Lily Waters; a brother, Buster Waters; and a sister, Mary Nell Childs. Memorial donations for John and Beverly may be made to the Haralson United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 98, Haralson, GA 30229. A college scholarship fund has been established in 2007 to honor Beverly and all proceeds will go to this fund. McKoon Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge.
