Mayfield Homes is the newest builder at The Lakes at Cedar Grove, bringing their standard product — four-sided brick homes — to South Fulton County’s premier master-planned community. The builder is planning to construct 215 homes in the community, including two decorated model homes. Fifteen homes will be at least 3,100-square-foot estate homes on 75 to 100 feet wide lots, starting in the mid $300s. The other homes, starting at 2,700 square feet, will be placed on 65-foot wide lots and range from $250,000 to $320,000. They will include front-entry garages. All of their floorplans, including two-story plans and ranch plans, feature four bedrooms on both basements and slabs. The Lakes at Cedar Grove has more than 900 homes, priced from the $140,000s to $400,000s. Located off of South Fulton Parkway, the neighborhood features single-family homes with a collection of decorated model homes, five lakes with panoramic views and country-club style amenities. Other features include sidewalks and decorative street lamps throughout the community for beauty and safety. A Cousins/Macauley development, the Lakes at Cedar Grove is a pedestrian-friendly community where residents can live and play, while still being just minutes from downtown Atlanta and Hartsfield International Airport. Amenities include a brand new Clubhouse, five lakes for boating and fishing; parks with nature trails; and expansive recreation center for swimming pool, tennis, basketball and volleyball; a club/pavilion and children's play area. “We have always wanted to be in master planned community to not only build our product in a such a community but to also be a more visible builder. There is no question The Lakes at Cedar Grove is the nicest, amenity-packed community in south Fulton,” said Mayfield Founder and President Sean Doughtie. “It is a very well received community and you won’t find better developers. They are very attentive to detail.” Doughtie is a second-generation homebuilder whose family has been in the building and development business for more than 30 years. Mayfield has been building houses in south Fulton for four years, and Doughtie has played an active role in the south Fulton building community. Doughtie is an active member of the Greater Atlanta Home Builder Association and helped start a chapter in South Fulton. He also sits on the South Fulton Parkway Alliance board. The business was named the 2004 Builder of the Year by the Greater Atlanta Home Builder’s Association. Mayfield recently joined forces with The Coalition to Salute American’s Heroes and the Veterans Administration to build a fully accessible 3,000-square-foot home in Wilkerson Mill Park in Palmetto in South Fulton County for a disabled war veteran. The company also teamed up with another local contractor to renovate and enlarge south Fulton’s Tapestry House, a residence for six teenage mothers and their babies. Doughtie has achieved the Certified Professional Home Builder designation, passing the International Codes Council Builder Contractor C codes exam and is a Certified Residential Inspector. He also is a member of EarthCraft House, Good Cents and the National Home Builders Association’s Builder 20 Group. “Reputation is key,” he said. “This was an easy deal. It is a true partnership. We are getting to build on a large portion of the lots there and they get a builder that is committed to building brick homes in the last phases of the community’s existence.” He added they are excited to be able to provide this product line to the consumers in a quality development. “It is the only neighborhood in south Fulton that provides all of the amenities and lifestyle that families and empty nesters are looking for,” Doughtie said, adding there are also many options for first time homebuyers in various areas of the community. “It is very diverse.” The Lakes at Cedar Grove sales centers are open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
