James Strozier, Newnan, died Jan. 29, 2009. He was born on July 10, 1931 in Troup County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Strozier, his wife, Mary Emily Bridges, whom he married March 15, 1952, brothers, William, Robert Jr. and Raymond Strozier, and sisters, Jeanette Rudley, and Mattie Mae Riggins. He was a sergeant in the United States Army, a Squad Leader in Company D of the First Armored 701st Armored Infantry Battalion. He received the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Korean Service ribbon in November, 1952. He was retired from the James Rivers Corporation, and had worked as a mechanic until his health failed. Services were at the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. Survivors include his children, Timothy and Synthia Denise Berry, Monica and Tesa Strozier, Marcus Strozier, Andrea and Deloise Strozier, Janet Johnson, and James and Sabrina Henry; a sister, Hazel Strozier; and aunt, Nevada Pittman, Atlanta. Roscoe Jenkins Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge. login to post comments |
