Iris M. Duffey, 66, Newnan, died Jan. 16, 2009. She was born June 26, 1942 in Scottsdale, Ga. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Bennett and Annie Amber Ogletree Murphy. She was an active member of Elim Baptist Church. She was a Language Arts teacher for many years at Western Elementary School and the O. P Evans Middle School.

Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Mike Harris and the Rev. Ed Wyatt officiating. Interment was at Elim Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include her husband, Ronald Duffey, Newnan; children, Ronda Duffey, Mike and Christine Duffey, both of Newnan; grandchildren, Scott Fitzpatrick, Newnan, and Billie Joe Espy, Binghamton, N. Y.; great-grandchildren, Danni Lu Jacobs, Whitesburg, and Skyler Jacobs, New York; brothers, Emory Murphy, Roswell, Irie and Rebecca Murphy, Opelika, ala.; and a sister, Jo and Rob Johnson, Winder. Memorial donations may be made to Elim Baptist Church, 1529 Handy Rd., Newnan, GA 30263. McKoon Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge.
