Henry Nelson, 85, Fayetteville, died Jan. 320, 2009. He was born in the Kenwood Community of Fayette County, the fourth of five children. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Neva Nelson, a daughter, Nona Nelson, and a great-granddaughter, Jocelyn Matthews. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps in World War II, serving in England and France. He was a long-time employee of the Pioneer, Heddle and Reed Co., in East Point. He later worked for several different security firms prior to his retirement at 75.

Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with interment at Holly Hill Memorial Park, Fairburn. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Gertrude Nelson, Fayetteville; a son, Larry L. and Pat Nelson, Powder Springs; a daughter, Marcia Nelson and Howard McCall, Marietta; stepsons, Archie Davis, Fayetteville, and Joe and Dale Davis, Newnan; and a sister, Sarah and Bobby Lawhorn, Riverdale. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.
