Marty Salter of Knoxville, Tenn. announces the engagement of her daughter, Megan Lauren Salter, to Bruce Swihart, son of Ruth and Judd Swihart of Grand Junction, Colo.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Ruby and Zack Salter of Fayetteville. She is a graduate of Grinnell College where she received a bachelor of arts degree in biology. She is also a graduate of Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health where she received a master of health science degree in epidemiology. Currently she is a doctoral student at Johns Hopkins University studying epidemiology and infectious diseases.

The prospective groom is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder where he received a bachelor of science degree in applied mathematics with a minor in computational economics. He is also a graduate of the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center where he received a master of science degree in biometrics/biostatistics. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in biostatistics at Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health.

A summer wedding in Knoxville, Tenn., is planned. The couple will reside in Baltimore, Md.
