Legacy Build needs your help to succeed. The Square Foot Ministry project is building office space for the Fayette Counseling Center, the community mental health center for Fayette County. The Fayette Counseling Center is one of many sites operated by the McIntosh Trail Mental Health/Developmental Disorders/Addictive Diseases Community Service Board. “We are excited about the dream to build a permanent home for mental health and substance abuse services, but we are experiencing a shortfall in funds,” said Craig Wiley, Square Foot Ministry representative. Wiley, who is helping to coordinate the build, is seeing the number of volunteers slowly grow but is worried about the budget. “We are grateful for the help in donated labor, but we also need money to purchase some materials which have not been donated. Right now we need concrete for the slab, for instance.” Legacy Build is a joint project between the Fayette Counseling Center, which financially needs a rent-free space, and Square Foot Ministry, a local volunteer group which tackles primarily residential projects locally as well as in neighboring states. The Fayette County Board of Commissioners recently approved leasing a tract of county land which will be used as the site for new building. “This kind of partnership is inspiring,” said Jane Fanslow, clinical coordinator of the Fayette Counseling Center. “I know that Fayette County citizens have big hearts and will help this dream come true.” Legacy Build is building the walls for the structure at Lowe’s in Fayetteville on February 14, then will transport the walls to the building site for a "barnraising". Chick-Fil-A will be there along with 92.5 The Bear, Starbucks, and Rita's. The Fayetteville Fire and Police Dept. are bringing their command vehicles and K-9 Unit. Local churches, choirs, and bands will provide entertainment. "Please join us in this wonderful activity to make our community stronger," says activity organizer Beth Barron. To participate as an organization or business, please call Ms. Barron at 678.233.4662. To donate, send checks to: Square Foot Ministries, 195 Brookstone Point, Fayetteville, GA 30215, memo line mentioning Legacy Build.
