Helen Austin Callaway, Newnan, died Jan. 4, 2009. She was born July 14, 1929 in Newnan. He was preceded in death by his parents, R. L. and Eula Carpenter Austin, her husband, Thomas G. Callaway Jr., and brothers. R. L. Austin Jr., and S. M. "Max" Austin. She was an honor student and a graduate of Newnan High School, attended Wesleyan College and the University of Georgia where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She worked in Washington D. C. as the secretary to Congressmen Sidney Camp and Jack Flint. After leaving there, she returned to Georgia where she retired as the secretary to the Executive Director of the Georgia Bankers Association. Private services were held at Oak Hill Cemetery, Newnan. Memorial donations may be made to Wesley Woods, 2280 N. Hwy. 29, Newnan, GA 30265. McKoon Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge. login to post comments |
