The Rev. Carol V. Metcalfe, 63, Jonesboro, died Jan. 7, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Alma Valcourt. She was a member of St. Thomas Christian Church and had worked for over 30 years as a manager for Avis Car Rental at many Atlanta area locations.

Memorial services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Shirley Chambers officiating. Survivors include her husband of six years, Arthur Metcalfe; a son, John B. Walls, Newnan; daughters, Cheryl Walls and Brenda and Jeff Strickland, all of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Erica Walls, Nicholas Walls, Rachel Strickland, Dianna Strickland, and Noah Strickland, all of Fayetteville, and Ashley Rogers, Jackson; a great-grandchild, Christopher Rogers, Jackson; sisters, Shirley and Raymond Lynch, Lawrence, Mass., and Jason Valcourt, Barnstable, Mass.; and former husband, John Walls, Tucker. Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army or Noah's Ark. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.
