A company has been selected to renovate the lecture hall facility at the Newnan campus of the University of West Georgia.

Because it owns the building, Coweta County will pay for the work and be reimbursed by the university, officials said. The county is contributing an additional $28,000 to the project, said County Administrator Theron Gay.

The $108,000 contract will be handled by Latimer & Hughes Construction of Carrollton. The company was selected by the University, and project architect Warren Epstein & Associates worked with West Georgia on the last project at the campus.

The scheduled completion date is on or before March 6.

Gay noted that although the county owns the building currently it will transfer ownership to the university later this year for continued use as an education center.

The campus offers many core classes along with master’s degree programs in criminology, early childhood education, middle grades education, special education, and administration & supervision.

Also offered are a master’s degree program in business administration; and bachelor of science degrees in nursing, early childhood education.

The campus is located at 7 Solar Circle.
