Fayetteville has a new executive director of its Main Street Program: Brian Wismer.

He replaces Nancy Price, who became director of the Fredrick Brown Amphitheater in Peachtree City last fall.

Wismer will lead the Main Street Tourism Association and the Downtown Development Authority, which focuses on historic preservation, business and community growth in the downtown district.

“I am really excited to be a part of this successful program and look forward to making downtown Fayetteville a prime community gathering place,” said Wismer.

He will also be heavily involved in the management of the popular Villages Amphitheater.

“I know everybody is anxious to hear about this year’s lineup, so just give me a few weeks to get in the door and we’ll be making an official announcement soon,” he said.

Wismer has event management and production experience from his previous employer of 13 years, The Show Business. During that time, Wismer oversaw event management projects and designed audio-visual systems for numerous clients.

He has worked with a variety of musical artists in pop/rock and country, including Kenny Loggins, Michael Bolton, and Blake Shelton.

Wismer is also currently serving on the city of Hapeville’s Planning Commission during the redevelopment of the Ford Motor plant.

“The executive director position allows me to draw from both my professional and volunteer work experience, and apply it to my home town. It is a perfect fit for me,” said Wismer.

One of Wismer’s goals is to encourage community awareness and involvement.

“We really want to keep the citizens excited and aware of the changes that are happening in the downtown district, and we hope to increase community participation and volunteerism,” said Wismer. He adds that his office door is always open to citizen ideas and suggestions for enhancing downtown Fayetteville.

Raised in Fayetteville and a graduate of Fayette County High School, Wismer received his BBA degree in real estate from the University of Georgia. His wife, Tania, teaches at Spring Hill Elementary School. The Wismers have a 2-year-old daughter, Willow.
