Two local churches have announced plans to offer grief support groups beginning this month. Some offer meetings throughout the year with sessions beginning at various times. • Fayetteville First Baptist Church will offer its GriefShare, a 13-week Bible based program for those who have lost a loved one, beginning Jan. 13. The class meets each Tuesday from 6:30-8 p.m. Each class begins with a video followed by group discussion. The program is open to people of all ages in the community and surrounding areas, whether the loss is recent or in the past. Sessions are led by Paul and Mary Ellen Ashworth, Jenny Muller and Gena Turner and meet in Room A-101 in the First Baptist Church Worship Center building at 205 Stonewall Ave., near the Fayette County Courthouse in downtown Fayetteville. For directions or more information, call Mary Ellen at the church office, 770-461-8378. • Peachtree City United Methodist Church’s winter Grief Share support group will begin on Thursday, Jan. 15 at the church, 225 Robinson Road, room 308. The 14-week class will meet every Thursday from 6:30-8 p.m. and uses a video, workbook, and open discussion format. There is a registration fee of $15 which includes a workbook (scholarships available). Grief Share is open to anyone in the community, age 14 and up, grieving the loss of a friend or loved one.
