A road in Peachtree City has been renamed at the request of a company that has relocated its world headquarters from Montreal.

Husky Drive, named after a now-defunct Peachtree City company, has been renamed FieldTurf Drive by the Peachtree City Council.

The name is in honor of FieldTurf Tarkett, a firm that manufactures, sells and services artificial turf grass that’s used on numerous professional and collegiate sports fields across the country.

The company bills itself as “the world leader in sports surfacing.”

Matt Forshee, CEO of the Fayette County Development Authority, noted that the company has not asked for any monetary tax incentives whatsoever, making the street renaming their only request.

FieldTurf Tarkett CEO Joe Fields said the company located here to be closer to its manufacturing facility in Dalton, Ga. Fields noted he previously lived in Peachtree City several years ago and he has been CEO of the company since April.

The company does business internationally including a customer base in China, France and other companies, officials said.

FieldTurf Drive is located adjacent to the Planterra Ridge Golf Course but has no other active uses along the road other than the new FieldTurf headquarters, officials said.

It was noted that other roads in Peachtree City have been named after companies, notably TDK Boulevard, Cooper Circle and Paschall Road.
