The Peachtree City Fire Department and members of the Bank of North Georgia Peachtree City branch wish to extend their “thanks and appreciation to the entire community” for participating in the annual Toys for Tots drive.

It was the goal this year to collect 3000 toys for the children and families served by the United States Marine Corps. But over 3,800 toys were collected by the deadline, organizers said. During the year that has shown some of the toughest times we have seen in years in our economy, many warm hearts stepped up to provide for someone other than themselves.

According to the information at www.toysfortots.org, the goal set by the Marines is simple: “The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a shiny new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to needy youngsters that will motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders.”

Special thanks also go out the Peachtree City Fire Department Explorers Post 209. These young people who make up the Post do exceptional work for the fire department and the community.

This past week they loaded up all toys collected and delivered them to the Marines for distribution. Under the guidance of PCFD Sgt. Andy Lee (a reserve Navy Corpsman who served with Marines) they continue taking on responsibilities for the good of the community while also learning new lessons through hands on training what the fire service is all about.

Again, for Peachtree City residents and guests “thanks” for your support for our “Toys for Tots” campaign.
