What began last year is rapidly becoming another tradition for downtown Newnan. Crowds last weekend made their way to the courthouse square area for Main Street Newnan’s 2nd Annual Festival of Lights held Dec. 19 and 20.

The events got started Friday night with caroling, a community baked sale to benefit non-profit organizations and horse and buggy rides for the family.

The family entertainment continued Saturday afternoon with an assortment of live entertainment that included selections by Newnan area resident and Miss West Georgia winner Jessica Scott. Scott was also a contestant in the Miss Georgia pageant.

Signs of the holiday season were in full swing at Espresso Lane where Santa was on hand for a VIP party for youngsters who had signed up for the event while visiting local merchants.

Horse and buggy rides were offered again Saturday as daylight began to fade. It was just the right time for Santa to make an appearance on the square. And topping off the evening and two afternoons of holiday cheer was the Festival of Lights Parade.

Newnan’s downtown area is a frequent site for attractions and events of all kinds. Now in its 2nd year, the Festival of Lights events make a good addition for family fun.
