Goodbye to Trey HoffmanTue, 12/23/2008 - 4:18pm
By: Letters to the ...
For the past several years, my life has been so busy to the point where I cannot just sit and read The Citizen from front to cover. Maybe, when I retire, I will have that luxury. However, each Wednesday I am anxious to turn to the editorial section to see what Trey Hoffman had to say about many of the issues in which we held many of the same concerns and beliefs, especially on issues involving life and the protection of the unborn. I saw Trey the other night at a Christmas party where he said “goodbye” to many of his friends. Trey has accepted a job that leads him back to Japan (a country he loves and where he can utilize his second language, Japanese). I will miss Trey (we did not see each other much) but I know we were both trying our best to raise our families, enrich our faith, and stand up for the future of our children. I was comforted to know Trey was always a phone call away to bounce ideas off or discuss some political or theological issue. Trey is a principled man who stands by his convictions and those are the kind of men we need in today’s confused world. Those who read Trey’s editorials may not have always agreed with him, but at least he was decent, honest, and always consistent. I wish him and his family great peace and happiness throughout this new adventure in their lives. Those who know him best from Holy Trinity will truly feel the absence of his family in the pews. However, we know Trey will continue to evangelize the truth through his words and actions thousands of miles away. Although The Citizen will have a void in the editorial page, several of us will try to continue Trey’s passion for writing while standing up for the many important issues he believed in. Trey, we wish you and your family the best. You will always have family here in Peachtree City. Godspeed, my friend. Rick Walker Peachtree City, Ga. login to post comments |
