Nine PTC kids advance in free throw contest

Nine boys and girls from Peachtree City, ages 10 to 14, were named local champions of the 2006 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship and have earned the right to compete at the district level. Council 8081 in Peachtree City sponsored the local competition at McInstosh High School. All youngsters ages 10 to 14 were eligible to participate.

Christine Cerazola was the 10 year-old girls’ champion making 12 of 15 free throws and Brantley Hawkins was the winner of the 10 year-old boys division making five. In the 11 year-old bracket, Gabby Seiler scored 11 for the girls and Brandon Cerazola made a perfect 15 of 15 free throws. Twelve-year-old winners in the girls and boys’ divisions were Amanda Pfannenstiel making 10 and Brian Griffith making 12. No girls competed in the 13 and 14 year-old brackets. The 13 year-old boys winners were Brandon Hawkins and Kevin De Oliveira each making 11. Paul Patterson won the 14 year-old division making 10.

Each of these winners will compete in the district competition to be held on Feb. 12 at Hood Elementary School with an eye toward moving on to the state and international levels.
