Chiefs JV team places second at Alexander

The McIntosh High School JV Wrestling Team celebrated the end of a strong season by capturing the second place trophy at the Alexander JV Duals this past weekend. Paulding High School won the tournament with Whitewater taking third.

The team was led by four wrestlers with perfect records on the day. Antonio Ferrell(130) finished the day with four wins and no losses as did Dayiaan Epps (135) and Eric Willanzheimer at (171) Jacob Worthington (189) had three wins and no losses.

“This is a terrific way to wrap-up the JV season,” said Coach Nick Bellantoni after the meet. “On the day we won nearly 75 percentof our matches. I am expecting a bunch of these wrestlers to be competing for varsity positions on next year’s team.”

Phillip Crane (112) had three wins and one loss as did Daniel Burton (152). Phillip Jones (119) went 2 – 2 for the tournament and Andy Milani (160) was 2 -1. Wade Daniel (140) was 1-3 and Adam Stanford (160).

“I am proud of these wrestlers,” Bellantoni added. “They put in a ton of hours in the practice room this season. It is this bunch of athletes that will help to ensure that we continue to build on this season’s success next year. Because of them we will be a stronger team next year.”

The Chiefs varsity Wrestling team will be back in action this Friday and Saturday are the Area state qualifier at Whitewater High School.
