Carol Colon Fayetteville Rotarian of Year

The Rotary Club of Fayetteville is proud to recognize Carol Colón as the 2007-2008 Rotarian of the Year. Carol and Past President Bill McNally were the club’s first recipients of this award in 1990-1991.

A Rotarian since 1988, Carol continues to have fun serving in her Rotary Club where she is currently the Program Chair. She served as Club President 1994-1955 and completed the term for 1995-1996. During her year as President she received the Sheffield Leadership Award for outstanding club leadership. She is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, Rotary Benefactor and a Will Watt Fellow. Both she and her husband, Hector, are Rotary Foundation Major Donors. She served as an Assistant District Governor 2004-2006. She has received The Four Avenues of Service Citation for Individual Rotarians by Rotary International. In addition, she has held numerous District positions including District Secretary in 1997-1998 and 1998-1999, District Conference Chairman 1999-2000, District Conference Awards Chair 2005-2006, Conference Co-Chair 2006-2007, Conference Coordinator 2007-2008, District Community Chair 2002-2003 and Annual Giving Committee 2000-2001.

Throughout her thirty four year career in banking, Carol found time to serve her community. She has formerly served as an Advisory Board member of the United Way of Fayette County as well as Campaign Chairman. She participated in Partners in Education, the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce and former board member of the Joseph Sams School.

Carol and her husband Hector reside in Fayetteville and are active parishioners of St. Gabriel Catholic Church. Together they have four children, Brent, Lauren, Laura and Emma, and all are Paul Harris Fellows. In her leisure time she enjoys traveling, boating and scrapbooking.
