She has been working in Fayette County for a few weeks, but the formal reception for new Fayette Department of Family and Children’s Services (DFCS) Director Susan Boggs was held Dec. 12 at the Fayetteville Library.

Boggs was introduced by local DFCS Board Chairman Andy Carden, who said the board was very happy with her selection.

In her brief remarks, Boggs told the room full of court services and social services staff she was thrilled to be a part of the community and was looking forward to establishing a wide range of partnerships throughout the county.

Boggs worked for five years in the juvenile justice system and had worked with DFCS for 17 years prior to leaving her station in Pike County to come to Fayette County. She began her work as Fayette County director on Nov. 1.

“I’m so happy to be here. Fayette County is a wonderful community with resources for families and children,” Boggs said, whose focus is customer service. “We’re establishing in-house procedures to do a consistently effective job geared to great outcomes.”

Also commenting on Boggs’ entry to Fayette County was board Vice-Chair Pete Nelms.

“We’re looking forward to working with Susan. I have confidence that she will continue to provide the vital social services that Fayette DFCS has a history of providing to our county,” Nelms said.
